It can seem like there is a club for everything at our school. So while there is everything from Ping-Pong to Environmental, there is a fair amount of more traditional clubs, including Book Club.

As the name would imply, Book Club is a club where all members read the same book and discuss it. Different people find different appeals with that.

“Some people have interest because they enjoy the unique stories that are conveyed by different authors. Others come for the community, and more still come for the snacks,” senior and Book Club president Noah Pittinger said.

While the club might not be changing much compared to last year, it will be slightly different.

“This year, I’d like to reorganize the club so that there is more leadership involvement from other members, and so it will be easier to pass the club on to future high school students,” Pittinger said.

Essentially, Book Club is about reading books, as well as telling and hearing opinions. Discussing is at the heart of the club.

“I find it interesting to hear what other people take away from a narrative; not only does it give me further perspectives on the world, but it also offers insights into the people with whom I am discussing,” Pittinger said.

The club has yet to meet this year, but is planning to have its first meeting in the near future.
