Each year, the MUNUC conference takes place in the Palmer House. Each committee is in a different room within the hotel. During this weekend, SHS MUN stayed in the Hampton Inn which was one block away from the Palmer House.

After spending Feb. 5 through Feb. 8 in Chicago at the Model United Nations University of Chicago (MUNUC) conference, the MUN Club did not return empty-handed.

Juniors Misha Sweeney, Rohan D’Souza, Max Gottliebson, and Kevin Fitzgerald earned Honorable Mentions, while juniors Animesh Bapat and Yangxing Ding and senior Jonathan Lucken all received Best Delegate at the 27th annual MUNUC conference.

“There were thousands of students from around the country and world who were at this conference, so it was amazing that SHS got so many awards,” Ding said.

Committee hours were long and took place every day, but students still had free time to go around Chicago.

“We went to Millennium Park and saw The Bean and had a lot of time to just hang out with each other; the weekend was a good balance between work and play,” senior Talia Bailes said.
