Tennis swings into conditioning

The boys tennis teams have started their training for the spring season with morning conditioning. For about a month, the team has gone to conditioning on Tues. and Thurs. at 6:00 am.

“While it’s hard to wake up so early, I really like working to be fit for the season,” said Varun Nagendra, 9.

The workouts include running, pushups, planks, and dynamic exercises. “The morning conditioning is hard work, but it is worth it,” said Regis Liou, 9.

The workouts have created great team cameraderie and unity, and despite the early start and difficult workouts, the team has really enjoyed working hard and training together.

“Conditioning is a lot of fun,” said Neil Yejjey, 9.

I really like working hard at conditioning to reach my goals,” said Jacob Habib, 10.

The girls teams, finishing off a very successful season with one of the doubles teams making it to the finals of state, have now joined conditioning as well. With now fifty or more members conditioning, tennis holds promise for  a very successful 2014 season.

My name is Jack Loon, and I am a sophomore on the SHS Leaf Staff. This is my second year on staff and I love being a part of the student voice. One of my favorite things to write about is tennis. I play for the school team, who is one of the top ranked in the state. Last year, our A team was first in the state, our B team won the Sycamore Cup, and our JV team went undefeated. I love watching tennis, and keeping up with the Reds. I also love writing opinion articles. Last year, I wrote a few opinion pieces on things that happen in our school such as ACE, exams, and MAP testing. You can follow me on Twitter @jackoloon14, and on Instagram @jackoloon.
