10th Annual Rob Pursley Basketball Tournament December 12 and 13, 2015

Press+Release+2015

Nearly ten years ago, on January 14, 2006, Rob Pursley, a son, brother, and wonderful friend to many, was

tragically killed in a suburb of Cincinnati. Rob was a graduate of Sycamore High School in Cincinnati, Ohio

where he lettered in basketball. Following high school, Rob played basketball at Bellarmine College for two

years before returning home to earn his business degree from the University of Cincinnati. Rob was an

accomplished financial advisor with nearly ten years of experience in helping others plan for their financial

futures.

Rob was a very passionate person who leveraged his great determination to overcome all obstacles that stood

in his way. Although he had many exceptional qualities, his greatest quality was his ability to make and stay

friends with people from all walks of life. Rob was truly a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one. He

touched many lives during his 28 years and his family is so proud that Rob’s friends are from a variety of

backgrounds.

To honor Rob’s memory and competitive spirit, an annual basketball tournament for charity has been created.

The 2015 tournament will take place on Saturday, December 12 and Sunday, December 13 at the Blue Ash

Recreation Center, 4433 Cooper Road, Blue Ash, OH 45242. Games will be held between 12 and 4 p.m. on

both days.

Proceeds from the tournament will benefit Sycamore Alumni and Friends Association. Scholarships will be

awarded to Sycamore High School graduates who, while not receiving college athletic scholarships, are

hopeful to walk-on to their college teams. Qualified individuals will have needed to demonstrate the love of

their sport and played with the passion and dedication demonstrated by Rob. Scholarships will be awarded on

January 29, 2016 at the Sycamore High School during the varsity basketball game.

The tournament has benefited twenty-one student athletes, the non-profit organization Parents of Murdered

Children as well as Crime Stoppers.

Donations (all tax-deductible) are much appreciated and can be sent to Dan Pursley at 1298 Meadow Vista

Drive, Maineville, OH 45039. Checks can be made payable to the “Sycamore Alumni and Friends Association”

or “S.A.F.A.”

The Pursley Family deeply appreciates and thanks everyone for their continued love and support over these

past ten years. Be sure to hug and tell your family how much you love them every day as you never know what

tomorrow will bring.
