Student council hints cacti might make a comeback soon. The cactus sale last year was greatly successful. Students can talk to anyone in the sophomore class student council or email newtonl@sycamoreschools.org to make suggestions for possible fundraising events.

Q: How did you become a class sponsor?

A: Mr. Corattiyil sent out an email looking for future class sponsors, and I just signed right up!

Q: What are some of the responsibilities of a class sponsor?

A: A class sponsor works closely with the class student council, who try to gather money for prom. I help sign off permission slips for fundraising events and help collect money.

Q: Where and how often do you meet with student council?

A: Once a month during seventh bell, I meet with the sophomore student council outside my classroom.

Q: What are some of the fundraising events you did last year?

A: To name a few, last year, the sophomore class did Battle of the Sibs, a cactus sale, and pie-throwing at a teacher.

Q: What do you enjoy about being a class sponsor?

A: I love working with students on a different level as an adviser rather than a teacher. It is fun to see all of the different, creative ideas that students think of to raise money.
