PILES ‘O PUMPKIN. Shaw farm is an excellent place to pick out pumpkins. They have large (as shown), medium, and even mini pumpkins available for sale. A pumpkin is also awarded to those who complete the Corn Maze.

From the moment autumn begins, people begin to flock to pumpkin patches and corn mazes to get their fix of fall fun. One of the best places for all things fall is Shaw Farm.

Shaw’s Festival runs every weekend in October from 9:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.

Activities range from corn mazes to a pumpkin patch to a petting zoo to hay rides and much more. Everything on the farm is family friendly, including an interactive playground for younger kids. Plenty of ready-to-eat food is available including pop corn, french fries, hot dogs, and several other options.

A store is also located near the pumpkin patch that features various local food products, Halloween decorations, and other handmade items. A specific point of interest to many is the corn maze.

According to the farm’s site, “Our mazes are design[ed] by the folks here at the farm each year. Together, we draw up a fun and challenging design that fits a fun fall theme.”

Whether visiting is a yearly tradition or something new, SHS students have also visited and approved of the farm.

“I loved it there when I visited! There’s so much to see and do,” said Stacy Lawrence, 10.

Visiting a farm like Shaw can be one of the best ways to embrace the season while having fun with friends and family.
