My name is Jack Loon, and I am a sophomore on the SHS Leaf Staff. This is my second year on staff and I love being a part of the student voice. One of my favorite things to write about is tennis. I play for the school team, who is one of the top ranked in the state. Last year, our A team was first in the state, our B team won the Sycamore Cup, and our JV team went undefeated. I love watching tennis, and keeping up with the Reds. I also love writing opinion articles. Seven new courts, new metal fences, and a new concrete walkway in between the courts are some of the new features that will arrive when construction is completed. We do not know when the courts will be complete, considering that in order for the courts to be finished, it has to be 50º or above for four days in a row. Concussions have some longer term consequences and affect one’s ability to think properly, due to bleeding of the brain. According to recent studies, wearing helmets and mouth guards do not prevent concussions, only minimize the damage and protect from skull fractures and scalp lacerations.
