BRAIN FRIED. Two AP Chemistry students rest during the optional Saturday of instruction on kinetics. They, alongside over 15 others, spent over five hours learning about reaction rates and other related concepts. Mr. Michael Geyer taught more complex concepts that are likely not to be on the AP Exam to students who stayed after the session over.

Allie Fanning, 12, and Michelle Siddiqui, 12, launch their catapult for the first time. They succeeded in hitting the board their first two trials, gaining a good start for the class. After everyone in the class has tested their launchers four times, the class will compete with the top eight launchers in a tournament. The class also competed against the high score of the day, which was seven points scored by Nathalie Bonin, 11.

COLOR. Junior Rishav Dasgupta creates his yellow and purple scrunched shirt design for the annual Tie-Dye Day. Students in all chemistry classes were given the opportunity to create their own tie-dye designs. On a future date, they will all show off their work with the annual Tie-Dye group picture.

PUT YOUR HANDS UP. SHS’ teams pose with their robot creations and awards. They were challenged to design and build mechanical hands to transport water bottles. The seniors received first overall and the juniors got third.

Seniors Aaron and Benjamin Charnay present their project to two judges. It was about the feasibility of using bamboo as a source of ethanol for fuel. The two received a superior rating for their project and are advancing to UC.
