Awe-sun eclipse

SHS students view rare planetary event

ANTICIPATION. Seventh bell science classes view the eclipse through their special protective glasses. At SHS, students and teachers were in the path of 91 percent totality. The eclipse reached its peak at 2:29 p.m. Photos courtesy of Adhiti Chundur.

SUN IN THE SHADE. As the moon moves in front of the sun, the shadows of the leaves change. The eclipse is shown through the holes in the leaves. At first, the leaves were distorted sideways, but as the eclipse progressed, the shadows became a boomerang shape.

The History of Homecoming Queen

NATIONAL RED CROSS MONTH. As some people may be aware, the month of March is known as Red Cross month. Especially in this time of uncertainty, every one of us should take the time to appreciate those who are constantly there to help us when we need it most, sometimes even risking their lives to ensure our safety.
Several types of medical professionals surround us in our daily lives. There are EMTs and first responders, surgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatricians, nurses, veterinarians, and psychiatrists, just to name a few. Each and every day, our front-line workers ensure our safety and health and provide us with the help we need. However, as they have demonstrated during the pandemic, they can do a lot more than just that.

National Red Cross Month

SHORTCHANGED. Pictured above is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, one of 16 top-ranked private universities involved in a lawsuit accusing them of reducing financial aid awarded to students through a price-fixing cartel. The suit claims that for almost two decades, the colleges have overcharged thousands of students who were eligible for financial aid—an estimated 170,000 students, to be exact. The other 15 alleged schools are Brown, the California Institute of Technology, the University of Chicago, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Duke, Emory, Georgetown, Northwestern, Notre Dame, the University of Pennsylvania, Rice, Vanderbilt, and Yale.
