Graduation time has the power to stir up a wide range of emotions, and this year was certainly no exception for our seniors right here at SHS. During this transitional and emotional time, seniors may be thinking about their next chapter in life, whether it may be the military, developing a trade, taking a gap year, or heading off to college to continue their educational journey. Others may reflect upon the people who helped them arrive at where they are today. In addition, seniors may ruminate over the support from family and friends over the years; the good times and the bad. But nothing makes them think more about their younger years than the annual Senior Walk.

Anyone who has done much research about the LGBTQ+ community has most likely heard of the Westboro Baptist Church, described by the Washington Post as “cult-like” and “homophobic. They are known for protesting soldiers’ funerals, being anti-semitic, and promoting the death penalty for LGBTQ+ Americans. However, just across the street from the church is a house that has been dubbed the “Equality House.” The house is painted rainbow and is a resource center for Planting Peace, a global organization that promotes peace and equality.
