Haunted Houses
With Halloween just around the corner, haunted houses are the perfect spooky activity. Some of the best haunted house spots in Cincinnati are Haunt at Kings Island, The Dent School House, and Twisted Trails. All of these places are famous for their creepier environments and great acting.
Apple Picking
Another iconic pastime, apple picking, is a must-have activity to start off the fall season and feel the full experience. What is even better is making some apple pie with your hand-picked apples. Places like Hidden Valley Orchard, McGlasson Farm, and Tukens Orchard and Farm Market are local apple-picking favorites.
Hikes
As outdoor temperatures start to cool, the leaves start to change to a beautiful orange, brown, and yellow, making autumn the perfect time to go on a hike. The best places to go on a nice evening hike during the sunset are the Keehner Park Trail, Cincinnati Nature Center, and Valley View Nature Preserve. At the Cincinnati Nature Center, trails like the Whitetail Trace, Far Ridge Trail, or the Fernwood Trail are all extremely popular and not too difficult.
Pumpkin Painting/Carving
Pumpkin decorating and/or painting has always been seen as a cornerstone of fall, and your decorated pumpkins can also serve as a nice decoration. And it is simple: you can get all the supplies you need from a local grocery store like Kroger, Target, or Walmart! Other places that have supplies that are local to Cincinnati is Pipkins, Blooms and Berries, or any other local pumpkin patches.
Pie Time
Who doesn’t like pie? Fall is the perfect time to experiment with your baking skills and see who can make the best pie. All it takes is pie dough, made from scratch or store-bought, and a filling of your choosing, such as apple, pecan, or pumpkin.
Horror Movie Marathon
When it starts to get chilly outside, and you can basically smell the candy corn, pumpkins, and autumn leaves, there is no better, more cost-effective way to enjoy Halloween than having a scary movie marathon. We recommend “Sinister,” “Get Out,” and “Conjuring” 1 and 2, which are, in our opinion, the most well-thought-out and well-made horror movies. However, if you enjoy slashers and movies with gore, then we suggest the “Terrifier” series, all of the “Screams,” and “Halloween” I and II.
