The Leaf staff aims to educate and entertain their audience, in a truthful and professional manner. Journalists’ mission is to raise awareness on issues in an engaging way. As the voice of Sycamore, The Leaf has the duty to be adaptable, polished, and be responsible for reporting only the truth. The Leaf provides a forum for the exchange of ideas and viewpoints, and to give coverage to newsworthy events directly related to the diverse school population.

Editorial Policy

Although students work under the guidance of a professional faculty member, the content is ultimately determined by the student staff and should reflect all areas of student interest, including topics about which there may be dissent and controversy. Students cannot publish material that is obscene, libelous, or will cause “a substantial disruption of the educational process.” Content that may stimulate heated debate or discussion is not included in this definition. Our publications are public forums; views represented in our publications do not represent the views of the Sycamore School District or the Sycamore High School administration.
