The saying “you don’t know what you had until it’s gone” never rang truer than it did during the COVID-19 pandemic. During one of the most tumultuous times in American and global history, it felt like everything just… shut down. Schools, restaurants, businesses, banks, playgrounds, churches, malls, neighborhoods, towns, and countries were at a seemingly never ending standstill. Uncertainty and confusion, fear and worry became the law of the land.
In the aftermath of the pandemic, we looked around and slowly, cautiously, began to rebuild and relearn how to live again. Now, as we begin to find our new normal, we also look to rediscover everything that was lost, no matter how small. While it may seem pointless to lament on the more trivial things the pandemic took, there is beauty in the small things. There is beauty in enjoying the recovery of everything as the world returns to what it once was, though changed. There is perhaps no truer example of this than the resurgence of live music.
In 2024, and now, in 2025, it is safe to say that the world will continue to see live music mount its great comeback. Venues that were once deserted will again dust off their microphones, set up their stages and welcome fans from around the country (and the world) to experience the uniqueness that is live music. There is little that compares to seeing one’s favorite musician live, to experiencing the connection between concert-goer and artist, and now more people than ever will get the chance to experience live music in its entirety. This year, there are concerts happening for every kind of music fan, from the oldies lover, to the rap fanatic, to the pop enthusiast.
