Baggy clothing is having a moment. With a renewed interest in vintage fashion among teenagers and an increase in the number of people shopping at thrift stores, your uncle’s pants are back in high schools all around America. So, with that in mind, I’m gonna tell you how you can throw it back to the ’90s without breaking the bank.
Tip #1 Out with the new, make room for the old
Go home tonight and look through your closet. Now remove all the clothes that aren’t unique and that you don’t wear often. If you want to get some money from them, sell them to Plato’s Closet for cash or store credit. If you want to give them away, drop them off at Goodwill or Salvation Army (it doesn’t really matter where they go; all that matters is that you have some space in your closet for some new clothes).
Tip #2 Fill in the Blank
Now that you have some room in your closet, you can buy clothes to fill the space. The best places to get cheap clothes are thrift stores and used clothing stores. Plato’s Closet is well-organized and has a wide variety of options. For thrift stores, Goodwill also has a lot of options. The only downside is that they might not be super organized. Wherever you go, try to find an even number of tops and bottoms so you have more combo options.
Tip #3: Putting it all together
Try pairing baggy pants with a loose-fitting shirt. If you want to wear something over your shirt, go for an oversized zip-up or hoodie. Now, all you have to do is throw on some sneakers, and you’re ready to walk out the door.
Bonus Tip: Dress for yourself
When deciding what to wear, prioritize making sure you like how it looks and feels versus prioritizing how you think others will perceive your outfit.
