Yes, Starbucks is delicious, but maybe it is time to consider supporting local businesses. We, the Leaf Staff, have ranked a few local spots based on four factors. first, food. We are always looking for good homemade pastries with fun seasonal flavors, but also some staple snacks like croissants. Second, drinks. We want a good variety of coffee, chai, matcha, and teas- something for everybody. Third, study vibes. Good hours, location relative to Sycamore, and how the space fosters productivity. Last but not least, price. Based on these four factors, you can choose which coffee shop is your new favorite study spot.
Clarity House:
An adorable tea room and pastry shop in downtown Montgomery, Clarity House has delicious handmade deserts, made seasonally (we recommend the peach-flavored scones). Their coffee is not my favorite, and their hours can be inconvenient for students, but if you get to go(,) it is a very calm place to study.

Mile 42:
Located in downtown Loveland, Mile 42 has it all: delicious pastries, coffee, matcha, and chai. The space is very warm(,) and the perfect place to set up shop for a fall study session. Our favorite drinks are their iced chai and any of their seasonal drinks, but their food and pastries are also very good.

RedTree:
If you take a quick 15-minute drive from SHS to Oakley, you’ll find RedTree. If you are looking for a meal, our recommendation is to go and get a bagel sandwich at the Bagelry right next to Redtree, and then treat yourself to a drink and something sweet while studying. However, Redtree has fantastic quiches and sandwiches, and our favorite drinks are their dirty chai and matcha. The space is also very cozy, and there is always space for getting some work done.

Deeper Roots:
Originally located in Over-the-Rhine (OTR), the local coffee shop has now opened a modern, airy shop in Downtown Montogomery. Their coffee and pastries are delicious, and they have great seating, making this one of the most conveniently located and productive study spots. If you’re wondering what to order, our favorites are the chocolate croissant and vanilla iced latte.
