Four years ago, we were all spending hours upon hours at home and having hours upon hours of free time. Although school and work took up some time, people needed something else to devote their time to: a new pet. Training a puppy, or getting a cat accustomed to a new life takes weeks of constant attention, and what better time to decide to do that than curing COVID-19. Many Sycamore students got dogs during COVID, and since then, these puppies have aged four years, and nearly doubled in size.
Sophia Swejkar, 11, got her dog Harper, in March of 2019, a year before COVID-19. Harper is a miniature Aussie Doodle. She got the dog because her mom wanted her to have a dog to play with and take up time during COVID.
Genevieve Brazina, 11, got Fezzik in May 2020. Fezzik is a mixed rescue that her family adopted from the Stay Animal Adoption Program (SAAP) and is the Brazina family’s first dog. Since 2020, Fezzik has grown a lot, and gets along well with their other dog, Buttercup.
