Connor Hickey, 9, is a fencer who, under the guidance of Queen City Fencing Club, is one of the top fencers in Ohio. Since the beginning of his fencing career five years ago, he has participated in more than 100 fencing tournaments, taking him to numerous cities including Lexington, Chicago, and Kansas City. He recently competed at the prestigious Junior Olympics in January 2026.
Hickey intends to fence long after high school because it has helped him grow not just as an athlete, but as a person as it cultivates his dedication and ethics. Outside of fencing, Hickey enjoys hanging out with friends and doing his school work.
Throughout his years at Queen City, Hickey had the chance to meet many distinguished fencers. He even had the opportunity to play a match against Lee Kiefer, an Olympic fencing gold medalist. He was able to score five points, bringing the final score of their match to 15-5. He looks forward to all that is ahead of him with his fencing future.
