Tips for improving art skills

Let us face the facts: we have all drawn a stick figure before. Nevertheless, have you ever wondered if you could go beyond the fundamentals of art and create something so jaw dropping that it amazes everyone you know?
If you were to go behind the scenes of an artist’s life and see how simple it is to excel to their level, you would want to start right away.
When asking what was the biggest factor that contributed to the artist’s talent an answer would be “Practice, practice makes perfect, or nearly perfect. With it you can achieve so much,” freshman Julia Kolnicki said.
Practice plays a crucial part to lead you to creating the masterpiece of your dreams. Many artists put hours or even days into tweaking their work to be just right, yet a couple minutes a day would be enough to get you started.
“Doodling in the margins of your notebook is a fun way to pass the time,” sophomore Eleanor Schmid said. Even this can be a stepping stone to improving your art skills.
Furthermore, you should look for your niche in art. Art is a broad subject and you can experience many different mediums including painting, sculpting, collaging, working with charcoals or pastels. This variety gives you choices for expressing yourself.
Likewise, seeing artwork in museums or doing searches online on preferred topics give you ideas that inspire you to replicate their work. Moreover, look at your daily life and see what shapes things are or the types of shadows they cast.
Use friends and magazine’s images as models. “Studying people’s expressions helps my work become more realistic,” Kolnicki said.
Use your creativity and keep a positive outlook on your progress. Let your limitless imagination evolve your art skills to create something amazing.
