On Sunday, the new season of The Walking Dead came out and smashed the cable records with 17.3 million people watching the show live. It has become very popular since the show first aired in 2010.

“I have been watching The Walking Dead for two years. It has become so popular because of the good acting, hot characters, and a good plot,” freshman Bailey Truitt said.

The post-apocalyptic horror drama started on Oct. 31, 2010 on the AMC network in the U.S and the first week of Nov. internationally. The second season premiered Oct. 16, 2011 and the third on Oct. 13, 2012.

The show was popular enough to have a fourth, now a fifth, and even an already scheduled sixth season produced. The seasons typically end with some type of cliffhanger, but the one at the end of season four was especially suspenseful.

In the last episode of season four, characters Rick, Michonne , and Carl make it to the city of Terimus with encounters of walkers along the way. When they get there though, they have a run in with Alex and Gareth.

What Rick realizes is that the people who were supposed to meet them at the “home base” were not present. He starts a fight with Alex and in the end the group is greatly out-numbered by the residents of Terimus.

The residents force the group into a boxcar where they find others from their clan. The season ends with a quote from Rick, “They’re gonna feel pretty stupid when they find out… they’re screwing with the wrong people.”

“I have been watching the show for about two years and I think that it has become so popular because of the good acting and great story line and writing,” freshman Dylan Sleyo said.

We can expect many things from this season that were apparent in the comic according to nypost.com. Some of them are more background information on Terimus, Morgan’s reappearance, father Gabriel Stokes, Beth’s return, and Daryl’s love dilemma.

“I am looking forward to the new challenges the group faces,” Sleyo said.
