After the girls season ended with junior Alexa Abele taking third in the state, conditioning began for both the boys and the girls, to prepare for their upcoming seasons. The boys only have until Mar., 2015, to prepare for their season in conditioning, while the girls have until Aug., 2015.

The boys and the girls have many offseason activities, some of which are new to the SHS tennis program.

First, there is a.m. conditioning, on every Tues. and Thurs. from 6:00-6:30 a.m., in the Gregory Center. These 6:00 a.m. conditioning sessions have been going on for years in the tennis program.

Along with morning conditioning, there are some new elements to offseason preparation that have been implemented by seniors Deepak Indrakanti, Nakul Narendran, and Alex Wittenbaum.

One of these new conditioning activities is the Wed. after school jog, from 2:45-3:30 p.m. Each Wed., tennis players meet at the SHS tennis courts, where they jog with the team.

Another new activity is team bonding sessions. Each Sat., from 1:00-2:30 p.m., team players go to team bonding sessions at the SHS turf field, where they play games such as ultimate frisbee, soccer, and tennis.

Through these activities, they can meet and bond with their future teammates, while preparing for the season physically.

“It is great to be able to meet and bond with our teammates, and I am looking forward to spending the spring tennis season with them,” said junior Rohan D’Souza.
