After years of large cracks and wet puddles interrupting matches and practices, the tennis courts are finally being redone. Construction started in August, and is on schedule to be completed by November.
Seven newly paved courts, high quality metal fences, a unique drainage system, and a concrete walkway are just some of the many new features.
“I am extremely excited for our new facility. It is awesome that we will be the first ones to use it, and hopefully, it will help us start up fresh for the new season,” said Naveen Viswanath, 11.
The new drainage system will help clear rain water quicker than before, so players will not have to wait for hours and hours to play.
“We will never have to endure the pains of waiting for the courts to dry again. I also won’t have to worry about slipping on a wet spot,” said Sam Levitt, 12.
The addition of one extra court will allow all three teams to practice at the same time. It will not be attached to the other six, so if one team has a match, then another can still practice without causing any distractions.
“There will be no waiting around anymore. Each time we step onto the court, we will get a full workout in without any interruptions,” said Ajay Qi, 10.
