Chinese class students represent Sycamore

Who knew singing Chinese songs could be a reason to miss school?  Last Friday, Students from the Sycamore Global language Chinese program, went to sing at the 2014 Chinese Gala Final.

“She said we would get extra credit so I said ‘sign me up.’  It was a fun experience.”  sophomore Chris Gribbler said.

Junior high singers got 2nd place in group singing.  Henry Sun got first place in individual singing.  He won $150 for it.  Chris Seger and Chris Gribbler got third place.

“It felt great to get first place.   I also met many unique individuals in the competition.  I didn’t mind the money either.”  Junior Henry Sun said.

The song the High school students sang was “The Ocean, my Hometown”.  It expresses the deep love a son feels to his mother.  Junior High students sang Where is Spring, which is about the natural beauty of the world.

“From the tryouts to the finals, we improved greatly.  It was a really fun experience to see other people sing chinese songs,” sophomore Chris Seger said.
