Spirit marches on

  • Leading the 2014 Homecoming Parade was the City of Montgomery police cars, ambulance, and fire engines. “Our goal with the parade is to show the local community how we represent them. It takes a while to organize the event but I think it’s worth it,” junior Max Weiss said.

  • The first car of students was boys and girls tennis. One of the girls tennis players, junior Alexandra Abele, went to state.

  • Cross Country followed the tennis team, both participants handed out candy.

  • The school dance team, The Flyrettes, enthusiastically participated. They also made an appearance at the pep rally the following day.

  • “The parade is so much fun because we get to go out into the community to celebrate our school,” senior Oluwafisayo Oginni said.

  • Volleyball was led through the parade by the team seniors. Their season ended the week before.

  • The Junior High School Spirit Club handed out information for the Flight Fest which took place two weeks after the parade.

  • Juniors Gary Traub and Gabrielle Kaiser walked for homecoming court. They competed against juniors Grace Whaley and Michael Beyersdorfer.

  • Basketball came out early to show their Sycamore spirit. Their season started one month after the parade on Nov. 29.

  • The water polo team celebrated their great season. They received third in state after beating Mason.

  • The 2014 state winners, Varsity Girls Lacrosse, finished off the parade. They showed their trophy to the crowd.
