Softball pitches new schedule

Last season the team struggled to produce runs. This was a problem and is one of the reasons why batting is being emphasized more this season.

The winter season is coming to an end. This has led the softball conditioning schedule to change. The new schedule is:

  • Monday weight lifting 5:45 a.m. to 6:45 a.m.
  • Tuesday throwing, hitting, and abs 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • Wednesday weight lifting 5:45 a.m. to 6:45 a.m.
  • Thursday throwing, hitting, and abs 3:00 p.m. to 4:45 p.m.

Mon. Jan. 20th was the first day that the new workout schedule was put into place.

“It was a little confusing because no one new that the new schedule was in place. Most people found out through out the day and were able to get their stuff. My mom dropped softball equipment for me,” sophomore Hannah Young said.

The people who did not know were not penalized, but from now on all practices are mandatory.

One way the team is combating the confusion is by making a group chat. Ellen Martinson is in charge of this, so she will let the team know what is going on through that.

The practice started out with tossing in the back gym. Then the players moved to the upper gym where they did tea work and soft toss.

“We started out with ten front hand and then back hand. Then we did ten with a full swing. After that we did soft toss, but in three positions inside, middle, outside,” senior Lydia Sloan said.
