College basketball player for Mount St. Joseph University Lauren Hill has battled extreme brain cancer for months. She is still in good spirits, even though she has to take multiple medications and must be extremely cautious with everything she does. An Upper Deck Lauren Hill playing card will be released and will sell for $10 at Hill’s website, thecurestartsnow.com.

After receiving an honorary doctorate from the University of Mount St. Joseph University, college basketball player Lauren Hill continues to fight her brain cancer.

Hill played in two games for her team. Her dream was to play college basketball, and when the doctors told her that she only had a couple of months to live, Mount St. Joseph University moved the Cougars’ first game up so that she could participate to her fullest ability.

She has become an advocate for pediatric brain cancer awareness and research. Layups 4 Lauren was featured at SHS last November to honor Hill and raise money.

Now, she is starting to experience the devastating effects of the disease.

“Hill remains in good spirits despite her worsening condition. She has increased issues swallowing and she now uses thickener in her water to make it easier to swallow,” Hill’s mother, Lisa Hill said via Facebook.

Hill has inspired many including Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James.

“You are simply and truly amazing Hill! Thank you for inspiring me and I’ll try my best to match you! Congrats on your game. Also be looking out for a package from I to You! You are awesome,” James said via Instagram.

Hill remains positive, and continues to provide a sense of humor.

“She still has a sense of humor even if her legs give out and she falls”, Lisa Hill said via Facebook. “My favorite quote of the week (is) I did not fall, I gracefully assaulted the floor.
