Mount Saint Joseph University freshman basketball player Lauren Hill was diagnosed with DIPG. She recently appeared on popular television show “The View”. Hill continues to spread awareness in many ways including Layups 4 Lauren at SHS held last Nov.

Mount Saint Joseph University basketball player Lauren Hill was diagnosed with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a deadly brain tumor, before her freshman year of college. Her dream was to play in a game.

She did more than fulfill her dream. She played in two games; one at Xavier University’s Cintas Center and one at Mt. St. Joseph University.  She scored points in both.

Now, she is unable to play. She has shown an extreme amount of courage that has led her to receiving an honorary doctorates degree from her school. She now has appeared on “The View” to help spread awareness for DIPG.

“Hill has done an amazing job spreading awareness considering the circumstances that she is under. She is an inspiration for us all,” said senior leader of Red Cross Club Kashif Malik.

On her foundation The Cure Starts Now’s Facebook page, her family thanked hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez, Raven Symonè, and Nicolle Wallace.

Her foundation has raised $1.3 million to help bring awareness and a cure for children with brainstem glioma and other forms of cancer since her jump in the national spotlight.
