The band may be done for the season but the color guard is back for more, this time in the form of winter guard. The group meets several times a week, but normally divides into the different categories. The team will perform sometime in May. All photos courtesy of Natalie Brinkman.

A combination of dance and flag work, the group of high school and junior high girls will be performing to the song “Elastic Hearts” by Sia. In addition to the dance, the girls have a warm up which challenges the girls to focus on dance basics.

In their performance they will be using flags, rifles, and something a little different, a large piece of stretchy fabric, which goes along with the song. The group has to incorporate the material into the routine and do so by holding on to it, dancing, and moving it to and from the stage. The added prop adds more complexity into the dance, and links the song choice to the routine. The red fabric will also match their costumes and flags.
