The JV cheer squad pumped up the spirit of the JV boys’ basketball team with wins and losses for 22 games, eight home and 14 away but the girls still had an opportunity to do what they love.

“I thought the season was really successful, the basketball team did not do too well but we had fun. All the girls got along really well and there was no drama,” sophomore Hannah Young said.

The team also had a new coach Rachel Howard who had a positive first year with the team.

“I really lucked out and feel blessed to have had the chance to work with two groups of fantastic girls who were motivated and dedicated through it all,” Howard said.

The team had tryouts in early November and after that practiced on Tuesdays for an hour and a half, then as the season advanced the girls practiced before the games.

“Our job as cheerleaders is to get the players and crowd riled up no matter what the score is. Team bonding is great and everyone gets along even when we experience a hard loss,” sophomore Rosanna Bartlett said.

The squad cheers during all JV games, home or away and cheers during pregame of Varsity home games.

“I really enjoyed this season with the girls,” Young said.
