U4U concert rocks on

  • “The electricity in the air is dazzling,” said freshman Thea Ferdinand. The Light up the World United for Uganda Benefit Concert was held on April 24, 2015. There was nothing stopping the night from being a hit.

  • Merchandise takes over the surrounding tables in the commons. Participants gathered around to buy bracelets, shirts, bags, and other items. And, the entire profit was handed directly to Ugandan schools, organizations, and other charities.

  • “I wish I could buy things, but I did not bring enough money. Some of my friends got bracelets and other stuff. The merchandise looked really interesting and fun and supported an great cause,” said junior Tim den Boer.

  • “It was a really cool concert and the music was amazing. I feel like there still were not enough people there to appreciate them, though. My friends and I had a great time just hanging out,” said den Boer.

  • Anyone wanting to join the action has an upfront fee of ten dollars for admission. However. club members additionally stocked the commons with pizza, baked goods, snacks, and drinks. This all payed for the benefit of students in Uganda.

  • “One really nice man comes up to Nadia and I and donated some money. We were very thankful for his donation to a wonderful cause. I love what U4U stands for and that I get to be a part of it,” said freshman Emma Basselman.

  • Entertainment for the night had multiple special student performers such as Megan Sulfsted, Andrew Leonard, Jenna Bao, Jack Kays, and many more. Musical performances from multiple local bands including the student’s own electric orchestra, See 1. Another being Matt Schneider, an up and coming young performer from the Cincinnati area.

  • “This one performer was really good. I am a new fan of Matt Schneider. His covers were really cool and I love his voice,” said Ferdinand.

  • The connection between this club and the people of Uganda remains strong. The Friday night concert raised money for students of Uganda who cannot afford to pay for schooling and also to help fund schools themselves. Not only that, but it gives students an opportunity to get involved in after-school activities.
