  • Freshman Jessica Fehr was the lead off of batter for the varsity team. Fehr’s batting average for the season ended up being .367, third only to Ellen Martinson and Elizabeth Izworski .All photos courtesy of McDaniel’s Photography.

  • Senior Ellen Martinson was the team’s infield Captain. This means that it was her responsibility to make sure the players in the infield knew what they were going to do during each play. Also that they were talking before every play, this ensures that they are paying attention.

  • Senior Alex Batsch, caught in the beginning half of the season, but then transitioned into being a third base man for the team. Her versatility helped the team immensely. She was a strong hitter at the plate, driving in many runs.

    '
  • Junior Paige Cassidy was another prominent player for the varsity team because of her excellent skills at the plate. When it seemed that nobody on the team could get a hit, Cassidy could always get something going. Unfortunately, half way through the season she was side lined by a number of injuries.

  • Freshman Yves Stuntebeck was a surprise for the varsity team. She started out on JV but half way through the season she was able to earn her spot on Varsity, above many players that were older than she. Stuntebeck’s main position was second base; her presence on the field allowed the coaches to switch up the lineup.

  • Senior Jordan Schuster was the outfield captain and was able to direct the outfielders while catching. She did not start the season out as catcher; she originally played second base and center field. But after the team had a couple devastating losses the coaches adjusted the line up to fit the player’s strengths.

  • Sophomore Elizabeth Izworski is one of the most important players that the softball team possesses. As one of the two pitchers that the team had she was able to help the team by shutting down batters while pitching. Izworski also ended the season with one of the highest batting averages.

    '
  • Senior Lydia Sloan was the other half of the pitchers for the team. She and Izworski’s combined pitching skills kept the team in a lot of games that they would have been out of without skilled pitching. Sloan’s abilities will be missed next year when the team will have to look for another pitcher.

    '
  • Junior Sydney Love was a utility player for the team. While playing a variety of outfield positions, she also played third base when needed. Love’s presence on the team gave the coaches more options when making the lineup.
