Girls water polo making splash at state

SHS’s 2015 girls state water polo team will be heading up to Ohio Wesleyan University Friday Oct. 23rd and Saturday Oct.24th. This year’s tournament will be set up round robin style. The girls first game will be on Friday night against either the Napoleon Wildcats or Worthington Kilbourne.

Senior team captain Jory Gould said, “I am very excited, but also very sacred.This is my last tournament as an aviator and I want to make it my best. I am excited to see what this weekend brings, I love my team and am ready to take on whatever comes our way. This is the moment we have worked all season for; I’m ready for it.”

The girls have played both teams previously this season.They played Napoleon three times and are 2-1 with Napoleon this season. The one time they lost, the score was 6-7. They have played Kilbourne four times this season, and have won all four times.

Senior team captain Hannah Kast said,” I am nervous for state especially since it’s my last state tournament. I am also very excited to see how these games will turn out and to see what my team is capable of.We are a good team and I am looking forward to seeing us prove ourselves.”

Their next game will be at 12:45 Saturday afternoon. They will either pay Mason or Princeton. They have played Mason four time and are 3-1 with Mason.The one game they lost,the score was 7-9. The girls water polo team is seeded second in the state behind the 2014 state champions Upper Arlington.

Coach Nick Hellwig said,”This is the most confident I’ve been that we can win state championships in the eight years I’ve been at [SHS]”
