On 11/13/2015, Chinese Club members met in Room 247, in the language wing of SHS. The reason for the event was to celebrate the Chinese Tea Ceremony. Chinese Club celebrates this every year.
Sophomore Lauren Ma said,“The event was really fun. I had a good time, and hope to go again next year. This was not my first tea ceremony, but I still had a good time.”
Tea Culture ceremonies are very old, dating back to the 8th Century, BCE. They can be casual, or formal and serve a variety of purposes.
Tea Ceremonies can be used to celebrate occasions, apologize to friends, and even show a sign of respect. Tea Ceremonies also are popular in other Asian countries, like Japan.
Chinese Teacher, and sponsor of Chinese Club Ning Zhang said, “Tea Ceremony is a very important ritual. I personally enjoy it very much, and it is a significant part of Chinese Culture.”
