Each homecoming season is kicked off by a parade . Members of the community and schools will be participating.
“I always enjoy the homecoming parade because it is fun to see the teams and everyone from our school getting ready for the dance. I also like getting the candy my friends are throwing out,” sophomore Sydney Bahr said.
Candy will be thrown along the entire fifteen minute parade route. The parade begins on Oct. 2 at 4:45 pm at the Shelley Lane parking lot in Downtown Montgomery and ends at SJHS. If a group would like to participate they may contact English teachers Ms. Caroline Millard or Mr. Benjamin Vore.
“The parade goes from the parking lot at Shelley lane to Remington Rd to Zig Zag to Cooper Rd until it gets to the Junior High. It’s a walking parade that is about a mile,” senior Max Weiss said.
Once the parade is over there will be a tailgate in the north end zone, the main endzone, lasting until 6:45.
“There will be basic burgers and hot dogs. The tailgate will be similar to the one held two years ago, but there will be more games, music, and fun,” senior Amy Bitzer said.
The music will be from a playlist created by Student Council. There will also be corn hole available. Student Council is working on acquiring other entertainment as well.
Tickets for the tailgate will be sold Thurs. and Fri. during lunch as well as at the gate. Participants from the parade are encouraged to stay for both the tailgate and the game.
