As is clearly visible, Boehner’s approval rates have recently decreased. This, along with unhappy supporters has led to his ousting from power. Boehner voluntraily resigned. It remains to be seen how effective Ryan will be by comparison.

Recently, after Speaker of the House John Boehner resigned, Congress was thrown into disarray. This chaos is clearly reflected in the Republican party (GOP).
Sophomore Kaitlyn LeBlanc“I didn’t realize someone could just resign from that position. It’s pretty crazy, honestly. Who’s gonna like take over now?”
The Republican party is divided into two main groups. The Freedom Caucus, and the more traditional GOP. The Freedom Caucus was the group that effectively forced Boehner to resign. Ryan is very much supported by this group.
Ryan was quoted as saying,“If my colleagues entrust me to be the speaker, I want us to become the solution.”
Ryan like Boehner is also worried about this group, despite the fact that he has it’s backing. Ryan effectively said he wouldn’t accept any preconditions demanded by The Freedom Caucus.
Sophomore Nikhil Sekar said “I think this is really interesting… I hope to hear more about this.”
