The Varsity gold tennis team was coached by Michael Teets. He led the boys team to a state championship in the spring. The girls placed second overall as a team at the state tournament. All photos by Jeremy McDaniel.

Senior Maggie Skwara hits the ball back to her opponent. Skwara battled a back injury last year, but was able to actively compete this season. She is also a member of the Student Athletic Leadership Team (SALT) at the school.

The girls golf team was coached by Andrew Ovington. It was Ovington’s first year coaching the girls golf team. He led them to the state tournament where they placed 8th overall.

Senior Kellen Alsip drives the golf ball. Alsip has been a member of the golf team since her freshman year. She placed first individually at the state tournament.

First time coach Andrew Ovington is explaining concepts to his players. Though Ovington has never coached girls golf before, he has played on a high school golf team and coached a boys golf team. Plus, he is the assistant coach of the boys basketball team. Ovington is a history teacher at SHS.
