Applause erupted at the first pep rally of the year as the girls on the Flyerettes hit their final pose.  At that point all of their hard work had paid off.

The Flyerettes Dance Team consists of 19 girls who all have one thing in common, they love to dance. The team has been practicing every Tuesday and Thursday since the school year started.

All of their practicing is preparing them for a competition later in the year. They work mainly on hip hop and jazz.

The team this year has gone through many hardships. They had several injuries, including a girl who had knee surgery.

Their team worked extremely hard on their first performance in front of the school.  They will be practicing twice a week to prepare for all of their other shows this year.

Abbey Baker, Managing Editor
I am a sophomore. I am 15 years old and this is my second year on The Leaf staff. My passion in life is dance. I enjoy dancing because I love to express myself through movement. My favorite subject is history. A movie I think everyone should watch is "Safe Haven." Ten years from now I see myself at college working to become an interior designer. My favorite book is "The Last Song" by Nicholas Sparks. In my music library you would find 90 percent of it to be dance songs.
