In order to play a sport at a high level, one must be in the utmost physical shape. The boys and girls tennis teams truly know what it means to be in shape.
“I try to train at least twice or maybe even three times a week so I can be ready for absolutely any situation on the court,” said Noah Stern, co-captain, 12.
During the morning conditioning on Thurs. Nov. 17, the athletes took a fitness test in order for Coach Michael Teets to gauge each athlete’s level of cardio endurance and strength.
“The fitness test isn’t meant to be easy. In fact, it’s made pretty difficult on purpose to truly see how tough and fit we [the players] are,” Stern said.
The fitness test consists of jumping rope for five minutes, 10 side-to-side sprints, one minute of push-ups, one minute of planking, and 30 seconds of shuffling.
“It can get pretty tough trying to complete the workouts at a high level, especially towards the end since you’re so tired,” Stern said.
The players will also be running a mile on Tues. Nov. 22 as part of the fitness test.
