Students, parents dance to Mardi Gras theme

  • LIGHTS OUT. Students and their parents dance through out the night in a Mardi Gras themed dance. The Odd Couples Dance was held at SHS on Mar 13, 2016. Dinner was also held before the dancing began. (All photos by Jeremy McDaniel)

  • DANCING THE NIGHT AWAY. Eshika Kohli, 10, boogies with her father. Students had fun dancing with parents. Dancing with mothers and fathers along with friends was special for students.

  • SAY CHEESE. Students enjoy a photo booth located on the other side of the Commons. The photo booth was complete with Mardi Gras themed props. Crowns, masks, and signs were used to take silly pictures with friends and parents.

  • LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION. Students let loose on the dance floor, doing the Cupid Shuffle. Dancing with both friends and parents was a special experience for students. “I feel like there was a lot less pressure while dancing and everyone had more fun with the parents there,” said Thea Ferdinand, 11.

  • A NIGHT TO REMEMBER. Sophia Wiedman, 12, and her dad dance at the Odd Couples Ball. Mardi Gras accessories like boas and beads were worn with students and parents’ dance attire. Students made memories with parents and friends at this unique dance.

  • PLAY. SHS substitute teacher and golf coach Mr. Alexander leads his band at the dance. Having a live band was a unique experience for students. The band played songs such as “Sweet Caroline,” while a DJ later played pop hits.
