Diving into swim season

  • JUMP ON IT. Jaanan Sivaruban leaps off the block in lane two. In the 400 IM relay, he swam the butterfly leg. “Swim relays are literally the best thing ever, except when you’re super tired and absolutely fatigued right to the bone…which is almost the end of every meet,” said Sirvaruban.

  • FLYING FAST. Jiho Choi sprints the first 25 of the butterfly race last season. Choi is currently a senior on the varsity swim team. “As the high school season begins, I am very excited to see where this team heads this year. Even though we lost a lot of seniors last year, we will work hard, and I’ve seen a lot of underclassmen who have the potential to do well in the future,” said Choi.

  • RACING AHEAD. Luke Tenbarge, 11 takes a quick lead on the first lap of his 100 breaststroke. He went on to win his heat in the meet on Senior Night. “Breaststroke has always been my favorite stroke. I love swimming it,” said Tenbarge.

  • GOING THE DISTANCE. Sarah Abraham, 12 races to finish at the wall at the end of her 500 freestyle. Abraham has been on the varsity swim team for 3 years. “I like swimming because I’ve done it my whole life, and it introduces me to a lot of great people, plus it’s a lot of fun,” said Abraham.

  • SPRINT. Stephanie Hong takes a quick breath in her 100 freestyle race. The current junior has been swimming for nine years now. “Swimming has always been a huge aspect of my life, and my love for it has only grown over time. I’m really looking forward to this season in terms of what it holds for me and my other teammates,” said Hong.
