Talent aglow at Variety Show

  • WE WILL ROCK YOU. The Variety Show, aside from showing off some of SHS’ many talents, is also a veritable fundraiser for the choral program. Aves choir students prepped a Queen Medley for the event’s introduction. “Combining all of the choirs was a blast and I loved all of the songs,” said Anna Enriquez, 10.

  • COME ON CLASS OF ‘17. Seniors Jannan Sivaruban, Mitch Radokovich, Josh Glauser, and Justin Banke executed their rendition of the homecoming classic, “Come on Eileen”. The group of friends waited till their final year at SHS to be a part of the Variety Show together.

  • BETTER YET, IT’S THE FLYERETTES. The SHS dance team delivers an upbeat routine for the masses. Some of the members were featured in multiple acts, happily balancing their own as well as another.

  • HIYA. Students Miriam Chowdhury, 10, and her brothers Kamran and Danyal perform a dramatic and exhilarating martial arts routine. The siblings each have a black belt in taekwondo, Miriam herself has one of the 2nd degree. “I chose martial arts because it is not done too often, at least from what I have seen. I got to schow off my little brothers and bring more variety to our Variety Show!” said Chowdhurry.

  • CELLO THERE. Junior Kiri Wang, nationally ranked cellist, smiles alongside fellow Juniors Keren Idelman and Yvanna Reyes, performing “Flightless Bird American Mouth” by Iron & Wine. The group arranged the piece for cello, piano, vocals, as well as guitar with help from Wang’s mother. “I am so proud of my friends for playing and sounding so beautifully,” said Wang. “I felt myself shaking but I rode a high,! We are already thinking about what song to do for our senior year.”
