The Flyover 1/25: Football signing day preview

The Flyover is your weekly recap for all things Sycamore recruiting. Join us every week for a look at the recruiting updates in all sports at SHS.

With exactly one week until National Signing Day on Feb. 1, I wanted to take a look at all the SHS football players who will be heading to college institutions next year.

RB Ra’Von Bonner- committed to Illinois

The highest-profile recruit of the bunch, Bonner will be attending Illinois next year. He is rated as a three-star back, the #54 overall player in Ohio, and the #78 running back in the country. This honor was certainly deserved after Bonner led the GMC with 1,690 rushing yards. Despite a recent offer from Iowa on Jan. 12, Bonner says he remains solid to the Illinois. I believe him and Illinois will be getting a good one when Bonner enrolls in June.

LB Grant Young– committed to Air Force

With one player already at the Air Force Academy (former offensive tackle Jake Barnhorst) SHS will add another to the military football ranks with linebacker Grant Young pledging to the Colorado academy as well.

A source told me that, while all cadets are on scholarship, Young will be a preferred walk-on, meaning that while being guaranteed a practice roster spot, he will not count towards the 85-scholarship limit for the Air Force.

OL Zack Richardson- committed to Davenport

Richardson, a first-team all GMC offensive tackle, committed to Davenport back in December.

Davenport is a Divison-II NAIA school competing in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference. They finished 6-5 last season.

OL Josh Feld- committed to Findlay

The newest commit, Feld pledged to Findlay just two days ago.

Feld chose Findlay over offers from Butler, Georgetown College, Cincinnati Christian, Lindsey Wilson College, and Valparaiso. Findlay is a Division-III school as well. Feld graduated from SHS early, meaning he is technically eligible to enroll today at Findlay and join the team for winter workouts, unless the university has already begun second semester classes. If that is the case, Feld will have to wait until June.

DL Elijah Hollis- undecided

The first undecided recruit with offers, Hollis announced that he will make his choice public on Saturday.

Hollis has offers from Ashland, Urbana, Ohio Northern, and others. You can watch his senior highlight tape by clicking here.

SB Nadarrien Duncan– undecided

A former transfer from Aiken HS, Duncan has a few offers, as Rockford College most recently extended an attempt to land his services. Duncan will sign Friday, per his Twitter. Rockford, Cincinnati Christian, and a few others are all in the running to sign him.

OTHER POTENTIAL SIGNINGS:

QB Jake Borman

DL Barry Daniels

WR Khadim Fall
