On Jan. 20, both SHS basketball varsity teams played Colerain High School.

“The energy was absolutely fantastic,” said Verany Iek, Flyerette, 10.

Throughout the games, young Sycamore Athletic Club (SAC) basketball players were announced by team.

“I thought [getting announced at halftime] was cool because we got to go down on the court during warm-ups, form a tunnel [for the players to run through], and getting introduced at halftime,” said Danny Thomas, sixth grader.

Additionally, there were Flyerette and SHS cheerleader performances.

“We absolutely loved performing at the pregame and halftime,” Iek said.

The double header had double meaning: to collect non-perishable food items and donations for Operation Give Back (OGB). Volunteers and donations make OGB possible.

OGB is a nonprofit organization that helps Sycamore families by tutoring younger children, grades two through eight, providing food during times of need and more.

Despite the event being over, there are still opportunities to donate goods or your time directly to OGB.
