Mathematicians participate in OCTM
18 students from Sycamore High School took part in a math competition this past Sat. Feb. 25. They boarded a bus to Lakota West High School, where they took the Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics (OCTM) contest.
The contest is 40 non-multiple choice questions, and participants are given 60 minutes to complete as many as they can. Calculators are permitted, and there are no penalties for guessing.
Top scoring students receive awards and may qualify for available scholarships. They may also be invited to participate in the Ohio Mathematics Invitational Olympiad (OHMIO) along with a four-member team from each 1st place school in the five levels, which are determined by school size.
The qualifying score is determined on OCTM grading day, March 7, 2017.
