Even though the weather is turning colder, there is no stopping in training. Members of the Varsity Gold tennis team continue to work hard for the upcoming season.

“Every winter and spring we have a timed mile. The mile is supposed to say a lot about you on how much effort you put into your training during the offseason,” said Margaret Skwara, 10.

Not only do members prepare with the mile run, they also participate in a variety of other things. These other things consist of:

  • Morning conditioning
  • Club clinics
  • United States Tennis Association Tournaments
  • Private Lessons

“I think that the offseason is actually one of the most important parts of tennis. It can make or break your season and can really have a big impact,” said Jamie Pescovitz, 11.

The idea of waking up for extra exercise or spending entire weekends dedicated to one sport may seem exhausting, but it will have a lasting effect.

“I am ready to work hard so that the next season will be the best one yet. It makes me excited knowing that the rest of my team works just as hard too,” said Alexandra Abele, 10.
