This week is the final countdown for choir, deadline week, the final sprint to the finish line, because this week is concert week.

The concert is scheduled for Dec. 5 at 7:00 p.m. There are no tickets, so everyone is encouraged to come. The performance will be held in the “Big Theater.”

There will be a bell choir performance again before the regular show. If anyone is interested in viewing the bell choir, that starts at 6:00 p.m.

Songs and performances deal with the winter holidays. Old favorites like “Santa Baby” to a medley of familiar Christmas songs are on the agenda. There is also going to be several Hanukkah songs and other traditional music.

“I can’t wait [for the concert]. I have been working on the choreography with the girls and they are naturals. They have made me very proud and I’m happy to see they are having fun along with me and the other choreographers. I’m really excited to see the end result,” said Dor’thea Lumpkin, 12. Lumpkin is one of the student choreographers for Bella Voce’s “Santa Baby.”

Choirs have been practicing for this performance since the start of school. Each choir generally learns five pieces to perform.

During concert week, the choirs practice after school the day before the concert until 5:00 p.m. Then, the day of the concert, they come early, at 5:00 p.m., to practice one more time before the 7:00 p.m. performance.

“I’m really excited since it’s our first concert of the year and it should be a great time,” said Emma Steward, 10.

In view of all the hard work and preparation, choir proves it has wonderful potential. Come to the show to see if practice has made perfect. For more information on choir, click here.
