CELEBRATE. After a year of hard work, select students were invited to attended the end of the year awards ceremony on May 4. These students were presented with external awards from universities and/or some awards are chosen by faculty. Students were awarded in a variety of different categories such as science, art, and communications.
SERVE. Junior Ryan Tufts was presented with an award for community service. Throughout the year Tuft’s commitment to service differentiated him from the rest of his class. “It was amazing to win this award; cultivating an environment of empathy and commitment to the community has been one of my main goals this year,” Tufts said.

SPEAK. Some students were awarded for their power in a spoken language. Junior Alex Newberg won the medallion award for Communications. “It was such an honor to win the award. This class has really helped me feel confident with public speaking skills,” Newberg said.

WRITE. Academic classes are also areas for incredible achievement. Juniors Annie Marsh, Harsimran Makkad, and Jenna Bao all qualified to compete at the National History Day competition at the state level. All students in AP United States History are required to write a research paper, and some students chose to have their paper entered into the competition.

CREATE. Creative artists are abundant at SHS. Student who create art of all kinds of art were awarded for their commitment to their craft. Students are entered in the Scholastic Photo Competition and the Montgomery Photo Competition in hope to winning recognition for their pieces.
