Crowd gains spirit from marching band

  • GET LOUD. The band attends several football games during the season to perform at pre-game, halftime, and in the stands. During pre-game, the group plays the Fight Song, the Star-Spangled Banner, and the Alma-Mater. The group aims to bring spirit to the fans in the crowd and create a loud dynamic for the game. • FANS IN THE STANDS. As the Color Guard leaves to put on their uniforms for the very first time, the band collects in the stands to cheer on the football team. They perform various pieces of popular songs that relate to how the team is doing- including a short version of the Fight Song. The band has reserved seating at home football games and attends away games as well.

  • PERFORM. Half-time is the marching band’s time to shine; as they take the field for performance, smiles erupt from the stands. The group starts facing back field and turns around in a ripple to accentuate their theme of balance. This introduction to the show adds an impactful visual element from the beginning.

  • EYES UP. The band and Color Guard use football games as practice for competitions. Students can learn skills such keeping their eyes up, playing at the right tones, and performing in front of an audience. The Color Guard must learn how to smile and perform towards the press box, which is located at the top of the stands.

  • VISUALS. The front ensemble, although stationary, provides another visual and musical element to the show. Parents of band members are extremely important for bringing the front ensemble instruments on and off the field. Parents also help make and create props, which will be featured as the band season progresses.
