Music is everywhere: on the elevator, in the restaurant, on your phone, everywhere. In today’s world, most students cannot leave the house without a pair of earbuds to get them through the day.

With the announcement of a new song or album dropping from an artist, listeners seem to be fixating on being available at the very moment the song is ready to listen in order to soak up every drop of the new beat.

As the first month of 2018 ends, new music seems to be rapidly firing up. With new songs in the rap/hip-hop world, listeners seem to be looking for more hours in the day to listen to all the new music coming and are excited about the anticipated legendary new songs coming.

Some of the most influential records released in 2018 include “God’s Plan” by Drake, “Finesse (remix)” by Bruno Mars and Cardi B, “End Game” by Taylor Swift featuring Ed Sheeran and Future, “Filthy” by Justin Timberlake, “All the Stars” by Kendrick Lamar and SZA, “IDGAF” by Dua Lipa, and more.

The most anticipated album is “Culture 2” by Migos which is set to release Jan. 26. The original “Culture” album was released in 2017 and includes multiple top chart songs including “T-Shirt,” “Bad and Boujee” featuring Lil Uzi Vert, “Slippery” featuring Gucci Mane, and “Get Right Witcha.”

Migos received two Grammy nominations. One in the category best rap performance for “Bad and Boujee”, and another in best rap album for Culture.

Currently, in the halls of SHS, you might hear a lot of Drake. This may be caused by his surprise drop of his new album, “Scary Hours,” which includes “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity”.

So far, the bar for music standards in 2018 has been set high. As the months pass, new music will come and go, but the students of SHS will always have their fingers on the pulse of the top charts and be in tune and ready for new music coming their way.
