  • HERE HE COMES. President Donald Trump visited Sheffer Corporation, located past SHS, at 2:00 p.m. on Feb. 5. Sheffer gave its employees a $1,000 bonus after the passing of the tax bill. Wherever the president travels, an ambulance, secret service, local police, military, and press corps in white SUVs follow closely. With around 30 to 40 vehicles and a helicopter, it costs roughly $2,614 per minute for the president to travel. All photos courtesy of staff.

  • RESIST. SHS students came to protest, including seniors Kathryn Willis, Sarah Gilmore, and Emilie King. With the day off, students made posters about the tax bill. “I don’t know much about economics, but I know that what Trump represents is not what [should] go on in our country,” said Morgan Schneider, 11.

  • RAISE UP YOUR VOICE. King was asked to comment by Ann Thompson, a reporter from the 91.7 WVXU radio station. Multiple news sites were present to record the event, including channels six and 12. The president has lost approval in Ohio; a new poll shows that only 52 percent of Ohio voters approve of his performance.

  • LIFT YOUR ARMS HIGH. Juniors Claire Minton and Schneider came to protest the president for his tax bill among other factors. They were at the corner of Deerfield and Cornell, where other protesters and supporters gathered on opposite sides of the road. “I’m here because our country deserves so much better than what we have right now,” Minton said.

  • PROTEST. Students and other protestors gathered at the street corner with the Socialist Feminism group leading chants protesting the president. On Feb. 5, there was a high of 29 degrees and a low of 17 degrees. Juniors Minton and Jeicy Hernandez Baquero participated in the protest. “How he is in office I will never know, but I’m here with many others to voice my opinion,” Baquero said.

  • FLIP THE COIN. Pro-Trump supporters congregated on the Deerfield-Cornell street corner as well, with a stand of pro-Trump clothing and hats down the road. Students from Moeller High School also came.
