Matt Savage
Matt Savage is a 25 year old, professional jazz musician and composer. He also has autism- more specifically pervasive developmental disorder. This form of autism presents challenges with developing social and language skills.
He was a musical prodigy from a young age, writing his first song when he was just seven years old. By the age of nine, Savage was a member of a jazz trio, and the other two members were adults.
They played concerts all over, and by the time he was 13, the trio had performed in multiple countries. Savage went on to graduate from Berklee College of Music and at the Manhattan School of Music.
In his 16 year career as a professional musician, Savage has released 12 albums. His latest album came out Oct. 14, 2016, titled “Piano Voyages.” His website, savagerecords.com describes the album as “his most personal and introspective to date.”
Being the composer and music artist for Sound of Redemption: The Frank Morgan Story has been one of Savage’s major achievements. Currently, he is a teacher at a community college in Boston.
He also “gives masterclasses and workshops domestically and internationally (in English and Spanish) as well as private piano lessons,” his website says.
